About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on System Administrator ( Backup & Recovery ) to take full ownership of a complex, multi-tenant backup environment. You will be responsible for the health, performance, security, and capacity of backup s across our private VMware cloud, AWS infrastructure, remote DR sites, and Microsoft 365 tenants.
Team : consists of 5 specialists. You will report directly to the Head of Infrastructure Administration.
Key Responsibilities:
M ai nt ai n and enforce the 3-2-1-1-0 backup rule across all platforms and environments.
Proactively monitor and troubleshoot backup jobs across virtual machines, MS SQL server s, and Kubernetes workloads.
Perform and validate recovery operations (full VM, instant recovery , item-level, SQL point-in-time).
Conduct regular recovery drills and ensure strict compliance with client SLAs (RPO/RTO).
Plan repository capacity, forecasting growth across local, remote, and cloud storage tiers.
Manage backup lifecycle, version updates, storage provisioning, and hardened Linux/Windows repositories.
Own and manage Microsoft 365 backup rollout across client tenants.
Automate backup operations using PowerShell and Bash scripts.
M ai nt ai n comprehensive technical documentation, runbooks, and change logs.
Requirements:
Experience: 3+ years specifically focused on backup administration in a production environment ( MSP or multi-client ent erp rise experience is preferred).
Veeam Expertise: hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication (200+ protected objects), SOBR , Proxy server management, Veeam Backup for AWS , and Veeam Data Cloud .
Virtualization & OS: Deep understanding of VMware /vSphere ( VADP , CBT , Transport modes, snapshot behavior), Windows Server (ReFS) , and Linux CLI (XFS, LVM, Hardened Repository ).
Databases: Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server backup ( VSS-aware processing , transaction log ch ai ns, AlwaysOn Av ai lability Groups).
Cloud & Networking: Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3 storage tiers) and solid networking fundamentals (protocols, firewalls, WAN bandwidth optimization).
Scripting: Basic to intermediate skills in PowerShell or Bash for automation .
Nice to have: VMCE certification, Veeam ONE, Veeam Service Provider Console ( VSPC ), Kasten K10 ( Kubernetes backup ).
Working Conditions & Benefits
Format & Schedule: 100% Remote, Monday to Friday (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
